Owned by Philippe Lejeune, Château Chambert has initiated a quality plan in order to produce better wines. His goal? To become the La Romanée Conti of Cahors - without the prices!
To attain this goal, Château Chambert took several steps over the last 15 months:
- for the 2007 vintage, Chambert acquired a four-tier grape sorting table, the only one of its kind in Cahors, but commonly used in the Classified growths of Bordeaux.
- during the winter 2007, half of the existing tannat grapes were uprooted. They will be replaced un 2009 by malbec grapes from massal selections.
- Winter cereals were planted and organic composts incorporated in the vineyards.
- During the spring 2008, a "dynamiser" was purchased to facilitate the biodynamic process.
